Modern Radio Night Flyer

My boyfriend's record label, Modern Radio, hosts a monthly night at the Kitty Cat Klub in Dinkytown. He asked me to design a new flyer for it. I came up with this, inspired by an old Motorla Radio Clock ad.

I'm in a book!

A new book has just come out called Post-Digital Printmaking: CNC, Traditional and Hybrid Techniques by Paul Cantanese and Angela Geary of Columbia College in Chicago. The book covers the brief history of technology in printmaking and explains exactly what it means by "Post-Digital"- using technology to create a number of matrices that can be manipulated in physical ways. It also features chapters going inside the studios of various artists who use the CNC as an integral part of their practice.
On page 39 (see below) you'll notice a page devoted to the Artemio Rodriguez print that I programmed/routed for the 2010 Mid-America Print Council Conference.

This book is a fantastic resource for anyone interested in learning more about integrating digital technologies with printmaking. Not convinced? You can read a thorough review over at Printeresting.

Lego Stilettos!

UK artist Finn Stone makes things ranging from public sculptures to furniture to small household objects. In any case, he has a unique and playful vision. These shoes were on display in an art gallery in London, however I think I need to display them as the centerpiece of my next party outfit!

Balls in the Walker Open Field Guide

The Walker has recently published a fantastic book overviewing their backyard summertime community art space, better known as Open Field. I found a photo of my puppet show, Balls, in Chapter 10. We did this performance as the opening for a Futurefarmers event in the summer of 2010.

Dr. Sketchy's September

A couple weekends ago I had the time to go to Dr. Sketchy's for the first time in many months. I always enjoy those Sunday afternoons where I can just draw for me. We had a gorgeous model, Elektra Cute. I won 2nd place for the session. Here are some shots of my drawings for the longer poses.

9/29 Wedding Caricatures

This past weekend I drew caricatures at a wedding up in Sartell, MN with caricature artist Rob Laskey. It got so busy that I didn't even stop to take photos of my subjects with their drawings...but the bride and groom wanted us to save all the finished drawings on a table for them, so I got to snap a couple quick shots when I was done.
