Featured Banner Artist for access+ENGAGE

This week I am delighted to be the Featured Banner Artist for access+ENGAGE, the bi-weekly e-magazine. What perfect timing with my thesis show coming up next week! Please check out the article and accompanying images!

  1. Hello Robin,

I was introduced to your work by david donovan, I just wanted to say that you're installations are wonderful and that I wish I could come to your thesis show =)

I was curious about how you made/ your process for making the food (sculpture?) for "Essence of Midway". The pieces look so realistic and strange especially the pretzels! I'm trying to experiment with different materials right now as I get ready for my BFA show in the fall, and you seem to be a master at making awesome environments from a variety of materials.

Thanks so much for your time and good luck with your show I hope you post lots of pictures.

    Cassie McCarthy

  2. Hi Cassie-

Most of "Essence of a Midway" was made using all different types of foam. The pretzels were made of Foamular, then I airbrushed them and sprinkled little balls from pieces of white styrofoam as the salt. The cotton candy is bamboo fiber that I dyed pink. It's always just a matter of experimenting with different things to get what looks right! Stay posted for pictures of my thesis show!

  3. Thanks for taking the time to leave some feedback!
