Exciting news! I've officially been invited to perform my puppet show, "Balls", next year at Open Eye Figure Theatre. It will be part of Toy Theatre After Dark Festival (March 10-20, 2011) done in conjunction with the Walker Art Center. The show will be workshopped and expanded and will be put on 5-8 times as part of the family program.

Caricature of Professor Weisberg

I normally try not to draw my teachers, however Professor Gabe Weisberg specializes in two things: the history of caricature and scatological references in art history. He also curated CAA's Art Journal, the Merde edition, back in 1993. So needless to say I thought he'd appreciate a little drawing. Here I've appropriated Manet's The Cat's Rendezvous (one of the images we learned about in class), this time making the white cat, well, poop.

Escape from Coney Island

Escape from Coney Island is opening this Saturday night at Stevens Square Center for the Arts. I've got 5 pieces in the show, along with the works of 7 other artists. Should be a good one, come check it out!

Last night at Open Eye Figure Theatre was Hand, Mind and Gesture, a show of student work. My piece, Balls, was a big hit! Much thanks to my amazing puppeteers, Benjamin Desbois and Justin Spooner...I couldn't have done it without them!

SlamJanes! Video

Done about a year ago friends and roommates Rachel James, Andrea Steudel and I (aka SlamJanes!) collaborated on a live-action puppet show projection, part of Minneapolis Art on Wheels. Just found the video online and thought I'd post it here.
